Report: Pacers’ Myles Turner likely out past NBA trade deadline with foot injury

The Indiana Pacers announced Tuesday that centre Myles Turner has sustained a stress reaction in his right foot.

Although Turner will be re-examined in two weeks, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the injury is expected to keep Turner out of action past the NBA’s trade deadline on Feb. 10.

Medical Update: Myles Turner’s injury has been determined to be a stress reaction in his left foot.

He will continue to receive treatment and be re-examined in two weeks, at which time the Pacers’ medical team will re-assess his status.

Turner’s been central to Indiana’s trade talks, and a number of teams have shown interest. The injury doesn’t make a trade impossible, but it certainly could be an obstacle in Pacers getting max value for him at deadline. Team can always wait for the offseason to make a deal too.

Turner was a surprise scratch from the lineup prior to Monday’s 139-133 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers for what was believed to be a sore left ankle/foot.

The 25-year-old Turner, who is in the final season of a four-year contract, is averaging 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and a team-leading 2.8 blocks per game. He led the league in blocks during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 campaigns.

Indiana, which has lost four straight, is likely to be a seller at the trade deadline sitting 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 15-29 record.
